Add to this the sprawling majesty of Cairo and a relaxing 4 night sojourn on the Nile—and you have the perfect Egypt experience. Relax on the beaches of sunny Sharm el-Sheikh, snorkel among the coral reefs of the Red Sea or join an optional excursion to St. Catherine’s Monastery at Mt. Sinai on “Option A.” For those selecting “Option B,” a fantastic Jordan program is included.



  Day 1: Saturday: En Route

Depart on your flight to Cairo.



  Day 2: Sunday: Cairo

Arrive in Cairo; meeting and transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure.



  Day 3: Monday: Cairo

Visit the world-famous Egyptian Museum with its extraordinary collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts; view Tutankhamun’s treasures and the Royal Mummy Room. Pass by Tahrir (Liberation) Square, focal point and symbol of the Egyptians quest for democracy on your way to Giza for lunch. Afterwards, see the Three Great Pyramids, the oldest surviving structures of the “Seven Wonders of the Ancient World;” enter one of the pyramids. Visit the Solar Boat Museum, housing the oldest known ship in the world, buried for over 4500 years. Stand in awe at the magnificent Sphinx guarding the Giza plateau. Try a camel ride before continuing to the unique Karnak store—the gems will dazzle you! Evening: Sound & Light Show at the Pyramids.



  Day 4: Tuesday: Aswan - Nile Cruise

Early morning flight from Cairo to Aswan, Egypt’s southernmost city. An optional tour to Abu Simbel may be arranged.* Transfer to your Nile Cruiser for a 5 Day/4 Night Cruise. After lunch, sail on a typical Egyptian “felucca” (sailboat) which glides along the Nile, past Lord Kitchener’s Botanical Garden and the dramatic Aga Khan Mausoleum. Overnight in Aswan.

  Day 5: Wednesday: Aswan / Kom Ombo / Edfu - Nile Cruise

Visit the Aswan High Dam, built to end the disastrous Nile floods. See the granite quarries where the stone was cut for the ancient monuments and modern dam. View the gigantic unfinished Obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut. Then, continue by motorboat to the island of Philae; see the beautiful Temple of Isis. Then, sail to Kom Ombo. Afternoon visit to the Greco-Roman Temple, dedicated to Horus, the Sun God and Sobek, the Crocodile God. The ship continues to Edfu for overnight.



  Day 6: Thursday: Edfu / Luxor - Nile Cruise

In Edfu, visit the Temple of Horus, the best preserved of all large Egyptian temples. Continue cruising along the Nile to Luxor; relax on deck and watch primitive villages on the banks of the river glide by—they haven’t changed in thousands of years. Overnight in Luxor.



  Day 7: Friday: Luxor - Nile Cruise

Drive past the famed Colossi of Memnon to the Valley of the Queens; see the beautifully terraced funerary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. On to the astounding Valley of the Kings, where the New Kingdom pharaohs were buried. After lunch, tour the vast Karnak Temple-Complex, built by generations of Pharaohs; wander among the towering columns of the great Hypostyle Hall. Continue to the Avenue of the Sphinx and the exquisite Temple of Luxor, guarded by the enormous statues of Ramses II. Explore the mighty Temple of Amun with its mass of obelisks, pylons, colossi and courts. Dock in Luxor for overnight.



  Day 8: Saturday: Luxor / Sharm el-Sheikh

After breakfast, transfer for your flight (may operate via Cairo) to the beautiful resort city of Sharm el Sheikh on the Red Sea. Meeting and transfer to your hotel for overnight. Evening: Optional “1001 Arabian Nights” Dinner & Show.*

  Day 9: Sunday: Sharm el Sheikh

Day at leisure in the most spectacular deep-sea diving and water sports paradise in the world and one of Egypt’s most fashionable resorts.



  Day 10: Monday: Sharm el Sheik

Day at leisure to continue your sun-filled time in Sharm el-Sheikh. Or take the optional full day tour to St. Catherine’s Monastery.*

  Day 11: Tuesday: Sharm el Sheikh / Cairo

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cairo; rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Cairo.



  Day 12: Wednesday: Cairo

Drive to Old Cairo; visit the Coptic Church of St. Sergius where Jesus and he Holy Family stayed while in Egypt. Continue to the restored, 9th century Ben Ezra Synagogue, the oldest in Egypt. Proceed to the Mosque of Mohammed Ali at the 12th Century Citadel of Saladin. Drive to the bustling Khan el-Khalili Bazaar. Overnight in Cairo.



  Day 13: Thursday: En Route

Transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
